HSR Alumni Weekend

Friday August 11 – Sunday August 13, 2017

With rain, frost and snow still troubling the forecasts all over Ontario a week into May, we’re beginning to wonder if summer has just decided to stay south this year. Either way, planning for Alumni Weekend 2017 is now underway, because we know that anyone who has spent a summer at HSR has already dealt with April weather in August, likely on several occasions.

This year’s edition will be held, as always, the weekend following the August holiday Monday, and will include camping, cookouts, the annual Hub ‘n’ Cub open mic, the awarding of this year’s HSRSAA Bursary, and the 34rd Mill Site Cricket Match (it would have been 35, but it was sick one year). We will also work with the camp to see about organizing some programs (archery and climbing wall have been popular Saturday afternoon activities in previous years) , and there will of course be plenty of time for hikers to explore the trails, paddlers to take out a boat and swimmers to go jump in the lake.

The HSRSAA Annual General Meeting will be held on the Sunday morning, which is an important opportunity for the Executive to report on its activities over the past year as well as hear fresh ideas from the membership on future directions.

This is an excellent opportunity to return to HSR to hang around with staff past and present, (and long-past) who all shared the common experience of spending the summer months working there. We hope to see you all there.
